AMMON Staffing is now hiring a skilled Yard Mule Operator for a large logistics facility in Plaquemine, LA that supports one of the region’s most prominent chemical manufacturers. This critical role involves operating a yard mule (also known as a terminal tractor or yard dog) to safely and efficiently move trailers around the yard, loading docks, and shipping areas. If you’re an experienced driver with a strong focus on safety and teamwork, we want to hear from you. Shifts are from 6A to 6P or from 6P to 6A.
Operate yard mule/terminal tractor to move trailers and containers around the facility
Safely back trailers into dock doors and staging areas
Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections
Ensure trailers are properly placed for efficient loading/unloading
Communicate with warehouse and shipping teams to maintain smooth yard operations
Maintain a clean and organized yard environment
Monitor yard traffic and assist with flow management to prevent congestion or delays
Follow all safety guidelines and PPE requirements
Assist with light warehouse duties, including inventory checks and general support as needed
Report any mechanical issues with equipment to supervisors or maintenance
High school diploma or GED (preferred)
Proven experience operating yard mules or similar equipment
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required)
Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
Forklift experience or certification is a plus
Must be a team player with strong communication skills
Willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends if needed
